CLUB SAFETY RULES

1. All weapons, when not in use, will be sleeved and /or locked in a car boot.  Snap caps should only be used when you have finished shooting and the weapon is sleeved.

2. Whilst waiting to shoot, all weapons will be broken and unloaded. Semi automatics will have the breech opened and locked and carried muzzle up.

3. No more than two cartridges to be loaded into semi-automatics at any one time

4. Do not eject spent cartridges with the muzzle facing anywhere but downwards.

5. When shooting is finished weapons will be cleared and made safe before leaving the stand.

6. If a mis-fire occurs, leave the weapon pointing down range for at least 30 seconds. Clear the weapon, remove the cartridge and hand to a designated safety officer for disposal.

7. Do not turn around on a firing point with a weapon (either loaded or unloaded).

8. Only shoot from behind the cones and in the direction of the arrows found on each stand.

9. Do not commence shooting until a clear order has been given to do so.

10. No shooter shall fire out of arc (i.e. across the path of another shooter).

11. DTL (Down the Line) shooters may carry cartridges in a broken weapon between stands 1 and 5 but not between 5 and 1.

12. In the event of a trap malfunction cease firing immediately, clear all weapons and notify a member of the committee or safety officer. Under no circumstances attempt to rectify the fault. Wait for qualified assistance.  

13. To avoid injury all traps must be switched off before loading. Always load from the rear of the trap. If in doubt seek qualified assistance.

14. All spectators are to remain in the designated areas.

15. On hearing a loud blast of a whistle or claxon cease shooting immediately, clear all weapons and wait for instruction to re-commence.

16. Safety glasses and hearing protection are recommended.

17. All members to read and digest the Risk Assessment document in the clubhouse.

18. In an emergency, grid references for the shooting ground can be found in the clubhouse.

19. Do not mix cartridges of a different calibre in belts or pockets. A 20 bore cartridge will fit into the breech of a 12 bore with disastrous results.
